Police in Atlanta said they are investigating a criminal homicide after a movie crew reportedly found a woman's body under an interstate overpass in the city early Thursday.
According to a release from the Atlanta Police Department, officers were flagged down just before 5:30 a.m. after someone found the body in a neighborhood about 8 miles east of downtown Atlanta.
"The scene is still active and ongoing as investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident," Officer T. Griffin told USA TODAY Thursday morning via email.
At the scene, Lt. Andrew Smith told local WAGA-TV a movie production crew initially found the body under Interstate 285.

Victim found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds
According to the release, officers at the scene found an unresponsive woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics, along with homicide detectives, arrived shortly after and EMS pronounced the woman dead, the release states.
Police said they believe the victim was at a nearby bus stop with the shooting suspect before she was shot.
As of Thursday the suspect remained at large, Griffin said, and a motive remained under investigation.
Victim's identity not yet released by officials
The victim's identity was not immediately known on Thursday.
A medical examiner will determine the woman's official cause of death.
Anyone with information about the case or the suspect is asked to contact Atlanta police at 404-614-6544.
